Pets ‘n’ Friends Competitions

Anyone may organize a competition. These may be either official or unofficial. If you want to run an official competition, you agree to a set of straightforward rules, and in return you will get full help and support from the moderator team. For unofficial competitions there are no rules other than basic fairness, but you proceed at your own risk.

Here are the rules for official competitions:

1. If you would like to run an official competition, please inform a moderator as soon as you know you want to do it. They will then be able to go through your proposed competition rules with you to check that there are no unforeseen problems, and they will also appoint an arbitrator (see rule 2).

2. All official competitions must have an arbitrator. The arbitrator is strictly neutral and must play no part in the competition which they are arbitrating. This person is there to be called in if there is any problem or disagreement involving the competition; they will do their best to mediate between the parties involved. Their decision is final. A person who is arbitrating for one competition may, of course, be involved in other competitions in which they are not arbitrating.

3. We advise that the arbitrator should be called in as soon as either the person running the contest or one of the entrants realizes there is a problem. The earlier the problem is identified, the easier it usually is to solve.

4. Official competitions will carry the official competition logo, which is the mouse in trousers. The mouse logo must be somewhere in the first post of your competition thread. The logo is shown at the bottom of this announcement.

5. All competitions (official and unofficial) must have clearly stated start and end times. Prizes should normally be announced in advance, but extra prizes may be added during the competition. No prize may be removed once it has been announced.

6. If the competition involves any use of art, no item introduced after the start date may be used in an entry. However, such items may be introduced as additional prizes by the person running the competition.
