PnF Reading List

Postby vey_chyryn » Fri Apr 15, 2016 10:33 pm

Hello everyone!

As you may or may not know, I am an avid reader. My favourite types of novels are YA Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, and Sci-Fi, but I'll just about anything a try.

I'd like to know what books or authors YOU would recommend to read. They don't have to be in my favourite genres, anything that you have enjoyed I would love to hear about.

I'm reading the Expanse series by James S A Corey and just finished The Saga of the Seven Suns by Kevin J Anderson. Both are Sci-fi. Martha Wells also writes great books.

I read so many books for work, some great ones, a very long list because I teach quite a variety of literature courses. When I am holidays, I mostly read fantasy and scifi. For my next read, I am trying to decide between Madeline L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time series and the more recent Matched, Crossed, and Reached series by Ally Condie. I will probably read both series this summer. Nothing better than a good book.

I added the previews for the Expanse series and the Seven Suns series to my Kobo. I will check these books out. Thanks for the recommendations :)

That has been my reading for the past two summers. I can't read a badly written book. Flawed, perhaps, but not badly written. These are all very good books :)

My favourite author is Terry Goodkind. His Richard and Kahlan novels are epic fantasy, and are superb.

In the way of young adult fantasy I really like Brandon Mull; for children authors, Emily Rodda. There hasn't been anything yet by either of them I haven't enjoyed. Even though Rodda's books are short (usually around 100 pages) the characters are still well developed.

Most recently in sci-fi I've been reading through the Babylon 5 books again. Babylon 5 is my favourite sci-fi show ever, lol. Though others include the manga and novels of .hack// and Ghost in the Shell.
