A "Bumping" Your Threads How-To *Image Heavy*

Hello.

As many of you already know, a thread/topic is "bumped" to the top of active threads to keep it from getting lost and to make sure it remains seen. This is usually done by making a new post on a thread, typically with something as simple as a smilie, sticker, or just the word "bump". Here on the forum we users have an additional bumping option not available in the facebook group. I will post 5 examples of this feature using multiple screenshots.

First and foremost, this can only be done on threads where:
Case A. You are the Original Poster (or creator) of the thread (regardless of who made the last post).
Case B. You have the last post made in a thread (your own thread or someone else's).

This CANNOT be done:
If the thread was not created by you and you do not have the last post made

Rules to bumping:
1. You must be the Original Poster (creator) of the thread ~OR~ have the last post made in a thread
2. The bump option will not be available until 1 hour after the last post was made
3. Bumping cannot be used more than once per post - once you use the bump option the next bump must be an actual post (which the new post can then be bumped once the proper time elapses)
If there are any other rules or restrictions they will be revealed as the forum becomes more active, one can only find out so much with the forum as it currently is. Also, there may be a way to decrease the time from when a post is made and when it can be bumped, as there are other forums which use this same template and have shorter time lapses.

Examples: *Click to jump to that example*
Example 1 - Time Lapse
Example 2 - Both Cases A and B - Can Bump
Example 3 - Case A
Example 4 - Case B
Example 5 - Both Cases A and B - Cannot Bump
*On example images where it says "Last bumped by..." this is available for anyone to see at the bottom of a bumped post. It disappears once a new post is made.

First Example shows the time elapse between when a thread/post is made and when you can bump it
Here is the time I created my thread:
Image

To find the bump option you will click ont he little wrench icon. The bump option is not yet available because the proper time has not elapsed:

Once the proper time has elapsed the option becomes available:

For this second example I am going to use my own and post in The Lounge.
Following both:
Case A. You are the Original Poster (or creator) of the thread (regardless of who made the last post).
Case B. You have the last post made in a thread (your own thread or someone else's).
In this case, I am the thread creator AND the last person to post.
While viewing The Lounge sub-forum you can see when the last post was made on a thread, mine is circled in red:
Image

Once inside the thread you can see the same information, when my post was made:
Image

If you go to the top of the thread page and click on the little wrench icon, a drop down menu appears:
Image

If you click on "Bump topic" you get a message:
Image

The page will not automatically refresh, but by clicking refresh or leaving and coming back to the thread will show the update:
Image
*On example images where it says "Last bumped by..." this is available for anyone to see at the bottom of a bumped post. It disappears once a new post is made.

And as you can see, my thread is now at the top of the sub-forum:

Third Example, from Trading sub-forum.
Following:
Case A. You are the Original Poster (or creator) of the thread (regardless of who made the last post).
In this case, the thread is mine but the last post made was not.
The thread, circled in red, is half-way down the list with David as the last poster.
Image

Here you can see David's post:
Image

Because the proper time has elapsed I can use the "bump topic" option:
Image

I receive the message saying the thread has been bumped:
Image

Upon refreshing the updated information is available:
Image
*On example images where it says "Last bumped by..." this is available for anyone to see at the bottom of a bumped post. It disappears once a new post is made.

And my thread is now at the top of the forum:

Example Four - this thread is from the PnF Signatures sub-forum.
Following:
Case B. You have the last post made in a thread (your own thread or someone else's).
Here you can see the thread, which was not created by me, but I was the last person to post in the thread:
Image

Because I was the last person to post and the proper time has passed, I can bump the thread, despite it already being the top post:
Image
In this example I did not follow through with bumping the topic.

Example Five - this thread was not created by me and I do not have the last post in it.
Following both:
Case A. You are the Original Poster (or creator) of the thread (regardless of who made the last post).
Case B. You have the last post made in a thread (your own thread or someone else's).
Circled in red, you can see as I just described.
Image

Since I am not the owner of the thread nor the last person to post, the "bump topic" option is not available to me, even though the proper time has elapsed.
